Chinese Bike Sharing Companies Desire to Expand Worldwide

Mobike, one of the bike sharing companies in China got an investment of six million US dollars to help it expand its bike sharing services worldwide.
Bike renting companies are not new in the world, but companies in China have been named the first ones to use technology to make bike sharing possible. After success in China, now they are expanding beyond borders. Using GPS technology, all you need is an App on your smartphone which will show you where the bikes are near you. You use your smartphone camera to scan a QR Code on the bike to unlock it and then all you have to do is ride it to wherever you want and just leave it there, when you lock it you will receive a bill on your app, and you can see how long, and how far you've travelled, and how much you they charged you.
Mobike reports a stagering amount of 100 million users using its bikes a combined amount of 25 million times a day. The service spans 100 cities in China, and it have expanded to Singapore, at the end of this month, they are planning to start operating in Manchester, UK, and this will be the first city in Europe to receive their services.
The founder and CEO of Mobike Davis Wang, said they want to expand their services worldwide and they plan to have a global presence in more than 200 cities on earth at the end of this year.

Another company that provides the same services, Ofo, have also shown interest in expanding abroad as well, it is already asking for investors and sponsors from different sources. Valued at one billion at the beginning of the year, Ofo, is already operating in Singapore and have trials in Cambridge, UK. Many companies around the world are already immitating the trend, such as US's LimeBike which started a few months ago which is basically a copycat of Ofo.

Chinese New Year

28th of this year, Chinese people will be celebrating the biggest traditional festival. And this is not any but the New year celebration. How big is this celebration? It is celebrated by almost the fifth of the world population, that means more than one billion people will be celebrating. On top of that, many East Asian countries will be celebrating this new year as they share most of the history and culture so it is not a surprise. During this time, schools are closed, shops are closed and most of the people will be on a month long holiday to give them a time to celebrate the CNY(Chinese New Year).
This is a long time tradition in China, every year the date is different due to the difference in Lunar and Solar calenders, but most of the time it falls between 21st January to 20th February.
Picha inaonyesha baadhi ya miiko kipindi cha mwaka mpya

The festival was held to celebrate the new planting season, during the time, most of the Chinese people depended on Agriculture. With development, most of the Chinese people are not peasants anymore, but they haven't quit their traditional ways of celebrating Spring festival. Most of them go to the cities to find work, and during this time they all have to go back to their hometown to celebrate this important festival, almost 200 million people travel back to their hometown every year during this time. The tradition have changed from praying for more harvest, to get better jobs and fortune.
They celebrate for the whole month, eventhough the most important day is the new year day. With development, it is harder to celebrate for the whole month, and so, celebration period have been adjusted from one week to two weeks, all those who have to work during this period receives extra payment and bonus.

In a span of 12 years, each year is dedicated to a certain animal, that is why you will hear they say this is the year of Dragon, or Monkey and so on. To celebrate the spring festival, they beg pardon to those they mistreated or sinned against, they refrain from sinning, they forgive those who have wronged them, and they make new chances to know more people, to buy new clothes, to give gifts to others(this is mostly a red envelop packed with cash), cleaning up their houses, eating well, and do fireworks(this makes China the country that do fireworks in large numbers more than any country in the world.), they do fireworks to scare the evil spirits.

During this time, it is also a perfect time to introduce your lover to your parents, relatives and neighbours. Without that you might be annoyed  by the questions posed to you by them, that is the reason why during this festival there's a booming business of "pretend-boyfriend/girlfriend for rent", this is a quick way to make money during this time for many youths.

Different ways to say "Happy new year" in Chinese~

Grind ginger to small pieces, or just slice it into pieces.
Mix it with Coca cola and then boil it.
When it is boiled pour it in your favorite cup and drink. Get a rest and if you do it right, the next day you wake up you will be as good as new.

You need to use this as soon as you start to feel the symptoms, don't wait till it is too late.

How Chinese Celebrate Silent Night

24th December is a silent night, and it is the day that many of us are planning on how to spend the Christmas the next day. To Chinese this is different, because there is actually no official holiday except for a few places, to them it is a normal day. There are about 1 million Christians in China, this is a very small number compared to a total population of about 1.4 billion. Businessmen and entrepreneurs have found an opportunity to use this day and its popularity to promote their products disregarding whether you are a Christian or not. To make this day special, Chinese celebrate it with a twist to make it interesting.
Foreigners living in China gets surprised when their hosts advices them to send an apple to someone you care about on this day, because they don't know why. After asking we got an answer, that to Chinese it is a good thing to eat an Apple(which is Ping guo in Chinese) during Silent Night(which is Ping An Ye in Chinese). "Ping" is present on both words, Apple and Silent Night, so they goes together. "Ping An" means "Peace" and "ye" means "Night", so when you eat an Apple during that day, you will be at peace and happy.
We wish you a merry Christmas.

Chinese Young Woman Making Millions of CNY Selling Chinese Chestnut

Full Story
She is only 21 years old, but every night she carries a basket full of Chinese chestnuts and roams around town, especially in the restaurants where many people meet to eat some night time BBQs while their quenching their thirst by drinking some beers(popularly known as "yexiao" in Chinese). In two years time, she has sold more than 30 tons of Chinese chestnuts, and she has been a famous person in the town that she is working.
She goes by the name of Ms. Liu and she lives with her father, her parents divorced. Because her father had some health problems, he wasn't able to help her financially, and when was in high school, she started working part-time jobs to support herself. Most of these jobs didn't satisfy her, and so in 2012, she decided to start her own business, selling Chinese Chestnuts. In the beginning, her boss used to pay her 2.50 RMB(approximately 40 cents US$) for each bag she sells. Later her salary went  10,000 RMB a month(about 1600 US$).
There are many young girls who do the same job, but very few who can generate the same amount. When asked about her secret she said "When you are selling things to other people, you need to be obedient, you can't force somebody to buy, you need to ask what they need first, then when they agree, you can let them taste, this way the client will trust you more and do business with you". For example, tow clients who just bought from her didn't want to buy at first, but after a little a chat with her, they bought. Service is the key, you don't need to force someone to buy, you need to convince them to buy.

How hard is her job?
When people hear her story, they think that her job is very easy, especially when they hear that she is a girl, but to say the truth, her job is really really difficult, the same as any other salesman job out there.
She goes out at 6pm, and she finishes at midnight 1am. All this time she doesn't have time to sit, she walks and stands for the whole time, plus the rude clients make her job much much harder.
Because of the atmosphere of her workplace(most of the people are drunk), she meets all kinds of weirdos. Some people who look down upon her, insult her and many other bad encounters. But she says that she doesn't listen to those people, apart from the psychological and physiological problems, other problems includes carrying and standing or walking for a long time which gives her back and waist pains, she enjoys her job, though. Other challenges include breaking the nuts which injure her tender hands, making her hands look like old woman hands.

Dreams of Being her Own Boss
After working hard for a while, she managed to make enough capital to start her own business, she has planned for a budget and next year she plans to quit her current job to start her own business.
